About Us :
Since its founding in 2005, Siraj has become one of the most prominent and innovative organizations driving the development of responsible tourism in the West Bank, re-branding Palestine as a destination for experiential travel and human connection.
As part of the Palestinian Center for Rapprochement between People (www.pcr.ps), and as the sole non-profit organization licensed by the Ministry of Tourism, our goal is to encourage international visitors to immerse themselves in Palestine: to experience our hospitality, cultural heritage and unspoiled nature in a life-enriching exchange of understanding between Palestinians and visitors from other cultural, religious and social backgrounds. Siraj has been instrumental in creating NEPTO, as well as the Palestinian Responsible Tourism initiative (www.pirt.ps).
We are pioneers in the field of experiential tourism in Palestine, offering programs such as local community tours, home stays, interfaith pilgrimages and cultural and fact-finding explorations. We have a variety of special interest programs, such as adventure-oriented, environmentally friendly trips along the Nativity Trail, Sufi Trails, and the internationally recognized Abraham’s Path/Masar Al Khalil, the first long distance walking route through the West Bank (www.masaribrahim.ps). Our walking/hiking experiences (www.walkpalestine.com) and cycling tours (www.bikepalestine.com) are unique and unforgettable, traversing the Jerusalem wilderness and beyond.
At Siraj, we create unique tourism packages that maximize the contribution of the local community, training rural and Bedouin communities in sustainable tourism and empowering them to take responsibility over parts of our tours. Our packages emphasize local engagement, thereby increasing local economic benefit through job creation and facilitating social development. We advocate and implement responsible tourism practices, aiming to maximize our positive impact on locals and foreigners while minimizing adverse effects on our cultural heritage and ecosystem.
